As with the DOC version of this red wine (without the Superiore designation on the label), Dolcetto di Dogliani Superiore DOCG is grown around the town of Dogliani. There are claims that the Dolcetto grape variety originates here. Old documents also show that the first vines were planted in the Dogliani area in the 16th century.
An old legend from the 13th century tells us that a Prince of the area threatened residents with beheading them if they planted other grapes than Dolcetto on his lands.
Dolcetto grapes are used exclusively (100%) for this ruby red wine. The scent is fruity and characteristic, the taste is dry, almond-like and harmonious.
The mandatory aging period for Dolcetto di Dogliani Superiore DOCG starts on 15 October of the harvesting year and lasts 1 year. The wine is released onto the market after November 1st.
