On the Moncestinos ridge, around the city of Gabiano Alessandria province, we find a small zone, which is based on the grape Barbera. The red wine from here is quite interesting, due to good growing conditions. The soil is relatively clayey and the fields are well exposed to the sun.
The dominant grape is, as mentioned Barbera (90-95%) with Freisa and / or Grignolino (5-10%).
Gabiano is an intense ruby red wine that obtains a garnet tone with age. The aroma is intense and vinous, with a distinctive scent of grapes. The taste is dry, harmonious and extremely rich.
A barrel-aged Gabiano Riserva is also available, with an alcohol content of at least 12.5% and a mandatory minimum aging period of two years in barrels.
This red wine has a good aging potential and pairs well with roast meat.
