Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG (Diano d'Alba DOCG) is a red wine grown on 75 approved vineyards (crus or sorì's) in the municipality of Diano north of Serralunga. As a 'cru' or 'sorì', actually the first of its kind in Italy. Other regions now use the cru system as well.

The vineyards are not classified by rank (and probably never will) as in France, but any label bearing the name 'Diano' is a real cru wine from the zone.

Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG can be compared with the best red wines from Piedmont. Locally, it is often compared with the Dolcetto d'Alba DOC wine in which area it is also grown, though as an independent zone.

Minimum alcohol content is 12%. If a 'sori' is mentioned on the label, the alcohol content must be 12,5%.

Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG is released on the market on January 1st in the year following the harvest.

The wine has a ruby red color and a fruity bouquet with hints of wood, as well as a dry, almond-like and harmonious taste.

An aged Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba Superiore DOCG is also produced.
