Dolcetto d'Acqui DOC is made from the Dolcetto grape (100%) and the vines a grown along the Bormida River around the towns of Acqui Terme and Strevi, in the province of Alessandria. The type varies from soft and fruity to robust tannins with good shelf life and can be experienced as a slightly bubbly (Vivace) red wine.
The color is ruby red, turning to brick red with age. The scent is vinous and the taste is soft and comfortable, with a touch of mild acidity and bitterness in the aftertaste.
There is a Dolcetto d'Acqui Superiore DOC, with a mandatory aging period of minimum one year and 12.5% alcohol content.
