In the early 1800s, the Grignolino grape was one of the most widespread in the Alessandria province, actually the second most used in Piedmont. Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese is produced around the town of Casale Monferrrato and can contain up to 10% Freisa grapes.

Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese is a bright and light ruby red wine that acquires orange touches after a few years. The wine has a delicate characteristic fruity aroma and a characteristic, slightly tannic aftertaste. From some producers, it may be quite elegant.
