In an area that lies between Torino and Chieri, we find this dry to semi-sweet red wine. The grape is 100% Freisa and the result is two types: a dry ' Secco ' and a semi-sweet' Amabile '.
The dry version is not particularly intense ruby red in color, but it delivers a fine aroma of raspberries and violets. The taste is dry with mild acid and with it becomes even more delicate.
Freisa di Chieri Secco pairs well with most meals, except desserts.
If it has aged for one year, the label mentions Superiore, and therefore it meets the required 11.5% minimum alcohol content. As with the other Freisa wines, there is also a full sparkling Spumante and a Frizzante.
The sweet Freisa di Chieri Amabile is light ruby as the Secco and it must have a minimum alcohol content of 11%. The aroma is delicate with faint notes of raspberry and an aromatic and sweet flavor. Quite a lovely dessert wine.
