The red wine Colli Tortonesi Monreale DOC is produced in a subzone in Colli Tortonesi and bears the name of the town of Monreale. The grape is also grown in 14 other municipalities in the subzone.
The grape used is Barbera (85-100%) with the permitted addition of 15% local non-aromatic red grapes.
Colli Tortonesi Monreale DOC is dark ruby red wine with garnet red reflections. The scent is vinous and intense. The taste is dry, harmonious and very rich. In general, it is a red wine with a strong presence of both flavor and taste.
The mandatory aging period is 20 months, of which 6 months of which in wooden barrels. The aging may not commence before November 1st of the harvesting year.
