Trentino Superiore Marzemino Isera DOC

Trentino Superiore Marzemino Isera DOC (or Trentino Marzemino Superiore d’Isera DOC) is the name of a recent sub-zone within the larger regional Trentino umbrella DOC. The production area is strictly limited, located in and around the municipalities Isera and Villa Lagarina, southwest of the provincial capital of Trento.

The name of Isera shall only be mention on the label of the wine already complies with the regulations of the red wine Trentino Superiore Marzemino DOC, which has stricter aging requirements and a different alcohol content than the “standard” Trentino Marzemino DOC red wine made from the same grape and produced in the greater regional zone.

The late harvest Marzemino grape is also known as Uva Tedesca (meaning “German grape”), which is a reminder of the tumultuous political history of Trentino-Alto Adige, as well as of its location, between Italy and Germany/Austria.

The subzones Isera and Ziresi are known for producing the best wines in the region from the Marzemino grape.
