Trentino Sorni DOC

Sorni refers to a small zone located just east of the Adige River. The area is a sub-zone under the Trentino umbrella DOC. The vineyards are situated in the municipalities of Lavis, where the Sorni village is located, Giovo and San Michele all’Adige. The latter is home to the highly respected wine school, the Istituto Agrario di San Michele all’Adige.

Trentino Sorni DOC is a highly privileged area on the hills with a beautiful view of Giovo. The vineyards are oriented towards south/southeast, meaning a position perfect for exposure to the morning sun, without being directly exposed to the merciless summer heat.

While Trentino DOC is surrounded by snow-capped mountains during winter, Trentino Sorni DOC is one of the hottest places of the Italian peninsula in July. The hills facing west, towards Adige Valley, near San Michele all’Adige, are the one enduring the afternoon heat. The wines here are noticeably fuller and more mature in style than those from the Giovo municipality.
