Serravalle is a subzone of Colli Bolognesi where there are more stringent requirements for wine production than under the generic DOC title.
Colli Bolognesi Serravalle Barbera DOC is a red wine made from the Barbera grape (85-100%), with the permitted addition of Cabernet Sauvignon (0-15%). The color is dark red, almost purple, the scent is vinous, grape-like and characteristic, and the taste is balanced, dry and mature.
The minimum mandatory aging period is 1 year and the aging potential is 3 years or more.
This red wine is also available as a barrel-aged Colli Bolognesi Serravalle Barbera Riserva DOC.
