This red wine has the same grape composition as the non-aged Alto Adige Cabernet-Merlot DOC, namely Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The dominant grape is always mentioned first on the label and only 85% of it can be included in the wine composition, while the secondary grape has a proportion of maximum 15%.
Alto Adige Cabernet Merlot Riserva DOC is an intense ruby red wine, with garnet red reflections and a characteristic, slightly spicy scent. The taste is dry, rich and slightly tannic.
This type is also known as Südtirol/Südtiroler Cabernet-Merlot Riserva DOC.
The mandatory aging period is 2 years, starting with October 1st of the harvesting year.
If the label mentions “Vigna” (Gewächs or Wachstum), followed by the name of a place, it refers to a specific vineyard area or a “micro zone”.
The wine combines perfectly with sausages, venison, roast meat and semi-hard or hard cheeses.
