This sparkling white wine, also known as Südtirol or Südtiroler Spumante Riserva DOC, is produced through the Metodo Classico (Champagne method).
Alto Adige Spumante Riserva DOC has the same grape composition as the non-aged younger sister, Alto Adige Spumante DOC, namely Pinot Bianco and/or Pinot Nero and/or Chardonnay.
The wine has a light straw yellow color, often with green or golden reflections. The scent is delicate, pleasant and complex, while the taste is fresh, fine and harmonious. The wine has fine and persistent bubbles.
The wine can be either dry (brut) or semi-sweet (brut).
Alto Adige Spumante Riserva DOC obtain the second fermentation in the bottle for at least 36 months and may be released onto the market only after 42 months from October 1st of the harvesting year.
If the label mentions “Vigna” (Gewächs or Wachstum), followed by the name of a place, it refers to a specific vineyard area or a “micro zone”.
The dry type can be enjoyed as an aperitif, while the sweetish type can be enjoyed with dessert.
