Elba Rosso is a red wine primarily based on Sangiovese, locally Sangioveto, (60-100%) with permission to use additional, local red grapes (0-40%) and green grapes (max. 10%).
This is an honest and good wine. The color is clear, ruby red with a vinous aroma and an ample taste.
There is also an Elba Rosso Riserva with a higher alcohol concentration requirement and a longer aging period.
Sardinia or Sardegna, Italy’s second largest island after Sicily , is in every way particular. There is a wide array of wines and if you are looking for something traditional and familiar, you should probably search elsewhere.
