The Aleatico grape has its absolute stronghold on Elba, where it produces a delightfully sweet red wine. Aleatico is used for this wine without the addition of other helping grapes, an the result is quite interesting.
The grapes are gently plucked, and afterwards dried for a week, either in the open air or in special drying rooms.
Elba Aleatico is a red dessert wine that ranges from ruby red to a dark rose color. The aroma is spicy and characteristic for the grape, and the taste is harmonious and exceedingly ample, ranging from sweetish to sweet.
An excellent companion to desserts.
You'd be hard pressed to find more beautiful surroundings other places in the world. Dramatic coastlines and a beautiful, forest-covered mountain landscape, with lemon groves and vineyards that are picturesquely placed on terraces draping the mountainsides.
