Elba Rosso is a red wine primarily based on Sangiovese, locally Sangioveto, (60-100%) with permission to use additional, local red grapes (0-40%) and green grapes (max. 10%).
This is an honest and good wine. The color is clear, ruby red with a vinous aroma and an ample taste.
There is also an Elba Rosso Riserva with a higher alcohol concentration requirement and a longer aging period.
You'd be hard pressed to find more beautiful surroundings other places in the world. Dramatic coastlines and a beautiful, forest-covered mountain landscape, with lemon groves and vineyards that are picturesquely placed on terraces draping the mountainsides.
