Elba has some quite good white wines with their fish dishes, and Elba Ansonica is a good example of this. As the name implies, the grape Ansonica (85-100%) is used for this white wine, and other local green grapes may also be added (0-15%).
This wine spans from straw yellow to amber. The aroma is intense and the taste is balanced and ranges from dry to sweetish.
The dry version goes well with fish, as stated, and he sweeter version with desserts.
Most tourists who have visited Valle d’Aosta (Aosta Valley), have probably never given the region’s name or wines a second thought.
