As the name suggests, the red wine Alto Adige Valle Venosta Pinot Nero DOC is made from the Pinot Nero grape, or Blauburgunder (85-100%), as it is known locally, with the permitted addition of local red grapes.
This is a ruby red wine with orange reflections, which become particularly pronounced with age. The scent is ethereal, rousing and characteristic, while the taste is dry, soft and inviting. The wine has a slightly bitter aftertaste.
The wine is also known as Südtiroler/Südtirol Vinschgau Blauburgunder DOC.
If the label mentions “Vigna” (Gewächs or Wachstum), followed by the name of a place, it refers to a specific vineyard area or a “micro zone”.
Combines with local “speck” (pork) soup, with pasta or with soft to semi-hard cheeses.
