Alto Adige Valle Venosta Pinot Grigio DOC is a white wine made from Pinot Grigio grapes (85-100%), with the permitted addition of other local white grapes (0-15%).
This straw-colored white wine has a slightly perfumed, characteristic scent, as well as a dry and distinctive taste.
The wine is also known as Südtirol/Südtiroler Vinschgau Rulander DOC.
Alto Adige Valle Venosta Pinot Grigio Riserva DOC is also available, with an aging period of minimum 2 years, starting with October 1st of the harvesting year. The minimum alcohol content is 11.5%.
Alto Adige Valle Venosta Pinot Grigio DOC is also available as “Passito” or “Vendemmia Tardiva” (late harvest), in which case the grapes are dried before pressing. Both types range from semi-sweet to sweet and they are rich and harmonious. The “Passito” type must have a minimum alcohol content of 16%, whereas the “Vendemmia Tardiva” is required to have a minimum of 13.5% alcohol.
Both types must age until June 1st of the year following the harvest before being released on the market.
If the label mentions “Vigna” (Gewächs or Wachstum), followed by the name of a place, it refers to a specific vineyard area or a “micro zone”.
The wine is a wonderful accompaniment of light pasta dishes, vegetable risotto, barley soup and soft cheeses.
