Alto Adige Valle Venosta Chardonnay DOC is a white wine made from the Chardonnay grape (85-100%), with the permitted addition of local white grapes (0-15%).
The wine is also called Südtiroler/Südtirol Vinschgau Chardonnay DOC.
The color is green yellow and the bouquet is delicate, characteristic and fruity, while the taste is dry, fresh, rich and distinctive.
Alto Adige Valle Venosta Chardonnay Riserva DOC is also available, with an aging period of minimum 2 years, starting with October 1st of the harvesting year. 11.5% is the minimum alcohol content.
The dessert wine Alto Adige Valle Venosta Chardonnay Passito DOC and the late harvest wine Alto Adige Valle Venosta Chardonnay Vendemmia Tardiva DOC are produced from the same grape varieties, which are dried before pressing. Both types of wine are semi-sweet to sweet, rich and harmonious. The Passito type must have a minimum alcohol content of 16%, the Vendemmia Tardiva DOC type a minimum alcohol content of 13.5%.
Both wine types have a minimum aging period until June 1st of the year following the harvest before being released on the market.
