Alto Adige/ Südtiroler Meranese di Collina DOC is a red wine made from the Schiava Grossa ans Schiava Gentille grape varieties (85-100%), with the permitted addition of local red grapes (0-15%).
This is a light to medium ruby red wine with a light, characteristic scent. The taste is dry, harmonious and balanced.
If the label mentions “Vigna” (Gewächs oe Wachstum), followed by the name of a place, such as Kuchelberg, Gneid, Rosengarten, Liebenberg or Labers, it refers to a specific vineyard area or a “micro zone”. If the wine is produced in the vineyards around Castel Tirolo, the label will mention "del Burgraviato" (or Burggräfler).
Alto Adige Meranese di Collina DOC can be enjoyed with local sausages, clear soups (gerstensuppe) or soft cheeses.
