San Gimignano Rosso DOC

Facts about this wine

Wine: Red wine
Taste: Dry
Volume: Strong
Min. alcohol: 12.5%
Mandatory Storage: Min. 15 mos.
Storage potential: 4 years

This red wine consists of at least 70% Sangiovese, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Merlot and/or Syrah and/or Pinot Nero (0-20%). Local, non-aromatic red grapes can also be added (0-15%).

The combination generally produces a more or less intense, ruby red wine with violet notes. With aging, it acquires a more garnet color. The aroma is vinous and delicate, and the taste is dry, harmonious, very ample and sufficiently tannic.

The minimum aging period is 15 months, of which 7 must be in oak barrels and 3 in the bottle, beginning January 1 of the year after the harvest.

Goes well with most on the menu.

There is also a San Gimignano Rosso Riserva.
