Producers of this red wine use the grapes Sangiovese (40-80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (0-30%) and Merlot (0-30%). Up to 20% of local red grapes can also be added.
The color varies from ruby to garnet red. The aroma is intense and vinous, and the taste is ample and harmonious.
The wine must age for a minimum of 5 months, of which 1 month in the bottle, prior to being released for sale, starting on March 31 of the year following the harvest.
There is also a Pietraviva Rosso Superiore with a longer aging requirement.
