Wine: Red wine
Taste: Dry
Volume: Medium
Min. alcohol: 12%
Storage potential: 7 years
This intense, ruby red wine from Barbera grapes (55-70%) and Bonarda – the local name for Croatina grapes – (30-45%), thus it has the same grape composition as the non-barreled, often slightly sparkling and, also often, sweetish Colli Piancentini Gutturnio DOC, but with a lower alcohol content.
Colli Piacentini Gutturnio Superiore DOC has a slightly vinous scent and a dry, soft and mellow taste, with a good body.
The wine is released for consumption after September 1st of the year following the harvest and the minimum aging period is 1 year.
Aging potential is up to 7 years.
If the label mentions “Gutturnio Classico”, it means that the wine is still and produced in a specific area encompassing the entire hilly area around the municipalities Ziano Piacentino and parts of the municipalities Borgognovo Val Tidone, Castel San Giovanni, Nibbiano, Vigolzone, Castell’Arquarto, Carpaneto Piacentino, Lugagnano, Val d’Arda and Gropparello.
That Italy in 2011 was the worlds largest wine producer?
