This red wine is made from the grapes, Sangiovese (50-100%) together with Pinot Nero and/or Merlot (max. 50%). Beyond that, up to 25% of local red grapes may also be added.
The result is a lively, ruby red wine with more ore less garnet reflections. The aroma is vinous, intense and characteristic, and the taste is dry, harmonious, robust and, when young, slightly tannic.
The mandatory aging period is 6 months in large or small oak barrels (carati). The aging period must begin after November 1 of the harvest year, and the wine can only be released for sale after November 1 of the year following the harvest.
All in all a red wine that places more emphasis on elegance than power.
