Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Malvasia Spumante DOC has the same grape composition as the semi-sparkling Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Malvasia Frizzante DOC, namely Malvasia di Candia Aromatica grapes (85-100%), Malvasia di Candia Bianca and/or Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Trebbiano Romagnolo, Chardonnay grapes (0-15%).
The result is a more or less deep, relatively intense, straw-colored wine. The scent is pleasant, distinctive and slightly aromatic, with an equally distinctive, lovely, fresh, balanced and persistent body. The aromatic, fresh and balanced taste ranges from dry to sweetish and sweet.
Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Malvasia Spumante DOC has a fine and persistent foam, obtained either by natural fermentation in the bottle (Metodo Classico), or through pressure tank (Charmat / Metodo Martinotti).
The wine is otherwise identical to the Colli Piacentini Malvasia Spumante DOC, also from the Emilia-Romagna region.
The dry type is best enjoyed with food, while the sweet type is best served with desserts.
