Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco Frizzante DOC is a more or less dark straw colored, slightly sparkling white wine. The grapes used for this wine are the same used for the dry still version, Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco DOC, namely Spergola (85%), which is the local name of the Sauvignon grape, with the permitted addition of up to 15% Malvasia di Candia grapes and/or Trebbiano Romagnolo and/or Pinot Bianco and/or Pinot Grigio grapes. Malvasia di Candia Aromatica grapes may also be added.

Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco Frizzante DOC has a light, fine foam, a pleasant, distinctive and slightly aromatic scent, with a similarly distinctive, lovely, fresh, harmonious and persistent body. The taste varies from dry, semi-sweet to sweet.

If Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco Frizzante DOC comes from the original, old part of the zone (the entire municipality of Albinea, as well as parts of Viano, Scandiano, Casalgrande, Reggio Emilia and Castallarano), the label mentions “Classico”.

The dry type may be served as an aperitif, while the sweet or sweetish types can be enjoyed with dessert.

A sparkling Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco Spumante DOC is also available.
