Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco DOC is a more or less intense, straw-colored white wine. It is made of Spergola grapes (85%), which is the local name of the Sauvignon grapes, with the permitted addition of up to 15% Malvasia di Candia grapes and/or Trebbiano Romagnolo and/or Pinot Bianco and/or Pinot Grigio and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica grapes (0-5%).
The wine has a distinctive, pleasant and aromatic bouquet, and a dry, sweet or sweetish taste that is fresh and appealing.
The dry type is best enjoyed with food, while the sweet and sweetish types are best enjoyed with dessert.
If Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco Frizzante DOC comes from the original, old part of the zone (the entire municipality of Albinea, as well as parts of Viano, Scandiano, Casalgrande, Reggio Emilia and Castallarano), the label mentions “Classico”.
On the same grape composition, there are also produced a semi-sparkling Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco Frizzante DOC and a sparkling Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa Bianco Spumante DOC.
