As the name suggests, this red wine is made from Merlot grapes (85-100%), with the permitted addition of other non-aromatic, certified grapes from the zone (0-15%), except for the Lambrusco type of grapes.
Colli di Parma Merlot DOC has a more or less intense ruby red color, a distinctive and inviting scent, sometimes with a spicy fragrance and a pleasant, smooth taste. There is a dry, slightly bitter, characteristic aftertaste.
A barrel-aged Colli di Parma Merlot Riserva DOC is also available.
