A few decades ago, Collio Pinot Grigio DOC achieved great recognition in the international wine world. The success and recognition of this white wine was so great, that it even surprised the Friulani’s.
When young, Collio Pinot Grigio DOC is a light straw yellow, fresh white wine. Some producers managed to give the wine a deeper golden color by allowing the fermented wine to have prolonged contact with the grape skins, rendering the wine a more full-bodied taste and a more distinctive, vinous scent. The technique is called Ramato and is mentioned on the label if used.
A barrel-aged Collio Goriziano Pinot Grigio Riserva DOC, with a period of aging of no less than 2 years and 12% minimum alcohol content, is also available.
