Friuli Colli Orientali Cialla DOC

Friuli Colli Orientali Cialla DOC is a well-defined subzone of Friuli Colli Orientali DOC(G) (formerly known as Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC) located in the eastern part of the main zone. The grapes come from the vineyards of Prepotto municipality and the area also includes the city of Cialla.

When the label mentions “Riserva”, it means that the barrel-aged wine has a required maturation of 4 years.

Generally, the DOC rules are more restrictive in Cialla DOC than in the rest of the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC(G). It is, for example, not permitted to use other grapes than the Picolit variety.
