Friuli Colli Orientali Merlot DOC is a rather smooth, soft and versatile red wine, best if served within 1-3 years. Coming from top producers, the barrel-aged type has a 4-5 year aging potential.
The wine has a ruby red color, which turns to garnet red with age. The taste is dry, full-bodied and pleasant.
A barrel-aged Friuli Colli Orientali Merlot Riserva DOC is also available, with a minimum 11% alcohol content. The required aging is 2 years, beginning on November 1st of the harvesting year.
The aging potential for the barrel-aged type is up to 5 years.
