The grape composition of the Friuli Colli Orientali Cialla Rosso DOC consists of the dominant red grape of the Cialla zone, namely Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and/or Schioppettino.
The wine has a ruby red color, often with garnet hints. The scent is distinctive and vinous, while the taste is mellow and dry.
Friuli Colli Orientali Cialla Rosso DOC is released on the market after April 1st of the year following the harvest.

A barrel-aged Friuli Colli Orientali Cialla Rosso Riserva DOC is also available, with no less than 4 years of aging beginning with January 1st of the year following the harvest. The minimum alcohol content is 12% for both the barrel-aged and the non barrel-aged type.
