Of all the Lambrusco types of wine, this is the most exported one, not least due to the fact that the grapes are grown throughout 35 municipalities. The result is a rather huge production.
With their very light structure, most types belong to the light cavalry. Some producers, however, have been trying to produce darker, more full-bodied wines.
The grapes used for Reggiano Lambrusco Rosso DOC include Lambrusco Marani and/or Lambrusco Salamino, Lambrusco Montericco, Lambrusco Maestri, Lambrusci Viadanese, Lambrusco di Sorbara and Ancelletta (85-100%), Malbo Gentile and/or Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata (0-15%).
Nevertheless, Reggiano Lambrusco Rosso DOC is a fresh wine, with a taste ranging from dry to semisweet and sweet, and a more or less pink color ranging from ruby red to intense red.
This wine is also produced as a rosé called Reggiano Lambrusco Rosato DOC, produced both as still and as Frizzante.
The dry type is best enjoyed with food, while the sweet is best served with dessert.
Reggiano Lambrusco Rosato DOC should be drunk within 1 year.
That Italy in 2011 was the worlds largest wine producer?
