Modena DOC

If the city of Modena does not sound too familiar to you, just think of Ferrari or Aceto Balsamico. In addition to being popular for fast sports cars, Formula 1 cars and balsamic vinegar, the Modena province, located  between Parma and Bologna, has also been known for its large production of red, rosé and white sparkling wine.

In 2009, in an an effort to make visible other good grapes besides Modena’s predominant Lambrusco varieties, the authorities decided to approve the creation of a new appellation, Modena DOC.

The new wine zone came to include, among other, sparkling wine made of Ancelotta, Trebbiano, Pignoletto and Malbo Gentile grapes. The Lambrusco grape, however, still remains a very important part of the wine production.

To sum up, it can be said that there is pressure in every bottle, with an alcohol content of approximately 9.5% whether we are talking about red, rosé or white wine.
