Castel del Monte Aglianico DOC is, as the name suggests, produced from the Aglianico grape (90-100%) with the permitted addition of other local, non-aromatic red grapes (0-10%).
The color ranges from ruby red to garnet red, and it has a delicate, distinctive aroma. The taste is dry, full-bodied and balanced.
Castel del Monte Aglianico DOC is also available as a barrel aged version, Castel del Monte Aglianico Riserva DOC, and well as a rosé type, Castel del Monte Aglianico Rosato DOC.
‘Rubicolo di Rivera’ from the Rivera winery is especially promising.
Enjoyed for red meat and seasonal cheeses.
