Originally, this was the only wine in the Reno area, but in the late 1990s, the number of wines increased to three, so the name of this type changed from Montuni del Reno to Reno Montuni DOC.
Reno Montuni DOC is white wine made from Montù, the local grape (85-100%), whose name is a version of the name Montuni, generally believed to originate from the Spanish variety Mantù (read more under Reno DOC). The addition of other local, non-aromatic white grapes is permitted up to 15%.
The straw-colored wine has a vinous, pleasant and inviting scent, and an either dry, sweetish or sweet taste, but always with a good body.
Reno Montuni DOC is the predominant wine of the zone and is best served with antipasti or fish, if it is the dry one. The sweet or sweetish type goes well with dessert.
