Both in structure and grape combination Melissa Rosso resembles in some ways its neighbour to the north, Cirò. Not least because many producers have vineyards in both regions. It doesn't, however, quite live up to its northern cousin.
The red consists of the grapes Gaglioppo (75-90%), Greco Nero and/or Greco Bianco, Trebbiano Toscano and/or Malvasia Bianca (5-25%)
It's colour is dark pink to ruby red, acquiring a brick-red tint with age. The bouquet is vinous and characteristic for this wine. The taste is dry with good body, palatable and characteristic.
Melissa Rosso Superiore is also produced, with a minimum alcohol strength of 13% and longer aging.
Can be stored for up to 6 years.
