This Spumante type uses the same grape composition as the non-sparkling white wine. Valle d’Aosta Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle Spumante DOC is cultivated on some of the highest vineyards in the world, about 3300 to 4300 feet above sea level, by the villages of Morgex and La Salle, near the ski area, Courmayeur.
This is a so-called varietal wine, made from the Blanc de Morgex grape (100%), also called Prié Blanc.
The wine ferments naturally in the bottle (Metodo Classico) for at least 9 months, and the result is either a ’Brut’, ’Extra Brut’ or ’demi sec’ type. The color is straw yellow, with a persistent foam, and an ample and harmonious taste with notes of yeast.
The total mandatory aging period is 12 months.
Served as an aperitif or with antipasto, and should be enjoyed while young.
