Valdadige Schiava DOC is a red wine made from the local Schiava Grosso and/or Schiava Gentile and/or Schiava Grigia grape (85-100%), with the permitted addition of local, non-aromatic red grapes (0-15%).
If the wine is made from grapes grown in the province of Bolzano, the label will often mention the German name, Etschtaler Schiava DOC.
Valdadige Schiava DOC is a garnet to ruby red wine, with a vinous and inviting fragrance. The taste is dry, soft, moderately acidic. The wine is also available as semi-sweet (Amabile).
The wine is a wonderful accompaniment of sausages, pasta, white meat and semi-soft cheeses. The semi-sweet one pairs well with dessert.
