Friuli Colli Orientali Refosco Nostrano DOC is exclusively made from the grapes grown in the vineyards of the municipalities of Attimis, Nimic, Faedis, Torreano, Povoletto and Tarcento.
The basic grape variety is Refosco dal Peduncolo (85-100%) with the permitted addition of local red grapes (0-15%), which render the wine an intense ruby red color, with purple hints. The color turns to garnet with age. The scent is inviting, delicate and vinous, while the taste is dry, fresh and mellow, with a slightly tannic aftertaste.
A barrel-aged Friuli Colli Orientali Refosco Nostrano Riserva DOC is also available, with a minimum 11% alcohol content. The required aging is 2 years, beginning on November 1st of the harvesting year.
The aging potential for the barrel-aged type is up to 5 years.
