An excellent red wine primarily produced from Petit Rouge (70-100%), but can also include Gamay, Dolcetto , Pinot Nero, Vien-de-Nus, Fumin, Mayolet and/or Premetta (0-30%).
Valle d’Aosta Torrette DOC is cultivated on both sides of the Aosta valley, and the best wines come from the areas around St. Pierre, Sarre and Aymavilles.
This elegant red wine has a very robust taste when young, but with time, it develops a nice bouquet. The color is ruby red and the aroma is reminiscent of wild roses, and later develops a slightly bitter background. Minimum alcohol concentration is 11%.
There is also a Superiore (Supérieur) with a longer aging requirement and a higher alcohol concentration.
In both instances, an exceedingly delicate and captivating wine.
Mandatory aging is 5 months, and the shelf life can be up to 10 years.
