The dry Friuli Colli Orientali Verduzzo Friulano DOC is, what some might call, a real summer wine. The wine is made from Verduzzo Friulano grapes (85-100%) with the permitted addition of local white grapes (0-15%).
The color is golden yellow, the taste either dry, sweetish or sweet, however always fresh, with a slightly tannic aftertaste. The scent is intense and pleasant.
The semi-sweet (Amabile) and sweet (Dolce) types make up excellent dessert wines and are also available in the Cialla DOC subzone. Furthermore, the grape variety is also used in Ramandolo DOCG.
A barrel-aged Friuli Colli Orientali Verduzzo Friulano Riserva DOC is also available, with minimum 11% alcohol content. The required aging is 2 years, beginning on November 1st of the harvesting year.
