Friuli Colli Orientali Rosso DOC can be produced from any red grape from the zone, and certain combinations can be quite impressive. The grape composition may consist of Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pignolo, Pinot Nero, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Schioppettino and/or Tazzalenghe.
The wine usually has a ruby red color, which turns to garnet red with age. The scent is characteristic of the grape, while the taste is balanced, dry and full-bodied.
The aging potential is 2-3 years.
A barrel-aged Friuli Colli Orientali Rosso Riserva DOC is also available, with minimum 11% alcohol content and a period of aging of no less than 2 years, beginning on November 1st of the marketing year.
