The red wine Friuli Colli Orientali Pignolo di Rosazzo DOC is the result of new DOC regulations, which came into force in 2011 with effect from the 2012 vintage. This type is also an autonomous subzone within the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC main zone, and it is produced in the municipalities of San Giovanni al Natisone, Manzano and Corno di Rosazzo, as well as in a few neighboring municipalities.
Being made exclusively from the Pignolo grape (100%), Friuli Colli Orientali Pignolo di Rosazzo DOC has a period of aging of no less than 4 years. Released on the market after November 1st of the fourth year following the harvest. It is permitted to use wooden barrels for aging.
Friuli Colli Orientali Pignolo di Rosazzo DOC is a ruby red wine, which becomes garnet red with age. The scent is distinctive and pleasant, while the taste is dry and rather elegant.
Enjoyed with smoked meat, sausages, soup or hard cheeses.
