The primary grape in Controguerra Rosso DOC is Montepulciano Nero (70-100%) with permission to add other local, red grapes (0-30%).
Controguerra Rosso DOC is a powerful, robust, ruby red wine with a high alcohol concentration, full-bodied and noticeable tannins. Generally, this type matures slowly.
The minimum alcohol concentration is 12%. Released on the market not sooner than March 31st in the year following the harvest.
There is also Controguerra Rosso Riserva DOC with a longer aging requirement and a higher alcohol content.
