Friuli Colli Orientali Cialla Verduzzo Friulano DOC is made from the Verduzzo grape (85-100%), with the permitted addition of local white grapes (0-15%).
This white wine, available either as dry, sweetish or sweet, has a more or less intense golden yellow color, as well as a distinctive, fruity and delicate bouquet, with notes of apricot and sometimes acacia flower. All three types have moderate tannins in the aftertaste.
Friuli Colli Orientali Cialla Verduzzo Friulano DOC has a period of aging of no less than 2 years, beginning on January 1st of the year following the harvest.
The dry type is enjoyed with fish dishes, while the sweet type is enjoyed with dessert.
A barrel-aged Friuli Colli Orientali Cialla Verduzzo Friulano Riserva DOC is also available, with the required maturation of 4 years, beginning on January 1st of the year following the harvest. The minimum alcohol content is 12% for both the barrel-aged and the non barrel-aged type.
