This red wine is mainly made of Negroamaro grapes (85-100%), with the possibility of adding Malvasia Nera di Lecce and/or Montepulciano and/or Sangiovese and/or Pinot Nero (0-15%).
Lizzano Negroamaro DOC is a dry ruby red wine which turns brick red with age. The scent is typically vinous, with a balanced flavor.
Best enjoyed with red meat and steak.
The aging potential is 3-4 years.
A barrel aged Lizzano Negroamaro Superiore DOC is also produced as well as a Rosato (rosé) type.
