With its soft warmth, the dessert version made of the Aleatico grape may remind you of another dessert wine from Apulia, Aleatico di Puglia DOC.
Gioia del Colle Aleatico Dolce DOC is produced from Aleatico grapes (85-100%), most often with only a small part Negroamaro and/or Malvasia Nera Primitivo (0-15%).
The color of the wine is a more or less intense garnet red, with purple reflections, which turn orange with age. The scent, which develops with age, is extremely delicate and distinctive. The taste is full-bodied, velvety and moderately sweet.
An impressive dessert wine with a required aging period of 5 months.
A barrel aged Gioia del Colle Aleatico Dolce Riserva DOC is also available.
That Italy in 2011 was the worlds largest wine producer?
