This barrel aged red wine is produced from the same grapes as for Brindisi Rosso DOC, meaning Negroamaro (70-100%), Malvasia di Brindisi and/or Sussumaniello, Sangiovese and Montepulciano (0-30%). The wine is grown, as the name suggests, from the port city of Brindisi towards the inland country.
Brindisi Rosso Riserva DOC is a powerful wine, yet still soft and elegant, characteristics that improve if the wine is stored 5-10 years, or, in some vintages, even more.
The color is dark ruby red, which turns into brick red as it matures. The aroma is vinous and quite intense; the taste is dry, with light velvety tannins, and a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Obligatory aging is 2 years. Storage potential is 6-7 years or more in some vintages.
Accompaniment to red meat.
