This soft, crimson red dessert wine has been produced in Apulia for centuries from Aleatico grapes (85-100%), with the permitted addition of Negroamaro and/or Malvasia Nera and Primitivo (0-15%). The wine is produced throughout the region.
With aging, Aleatico di Puglia DOC develops an extremely delicate bouquet. The color of the wine is a more or less intense ruby red, which gets purple reflections after storage and which turns to orange-red after several years of aging.
